Dempsey, M.D. CCI.<\/em><\/p>\n I had the opportunity to fish Chile in early April.\u00a0 What a fascinating country.\u00a0 The mountains and glacial springs, the glacial waters are everywhere.\u00a0 The whole country is nothing but mountains and springs.\u00a0 It is an incredibly clean country.\u00a0 There\u2019s no trash.\u00a0 People stop in the streets and pick it up.\u00a0 What a lesson we could learn in the United States.<\/p>\n We flew into Santiago and spent a day and then went to the camp.\u00a0 The first camp was called \u201cMagic Waters\u201d.\u00a0 It was about 2 hours from Santiago on the Simpson River.\u00a0 Simpson was apparently an explorer in the area many years ago.\u00a0 Our days were spent fishing in lakes, lagoons, and rivers.\u00a0 We fished primarily pontoon boats, 2 to a boat.\u00a0 Our guides were excellent with their knowledge of rivers, flies, and fly fishing in general.\u00a0 There are pretty much only 2 species of fish in Chile:\u00a0 Brown Trout and Rainbows.\u00a0 People go primarily for the big brown trout for aggressive and ready to eat although they are spooky.\u00a0 A tackle consists of mostly five and six weight rods with 2X and 3x tippet Flies were small terrestrials fished on top.<\/p>\n After spending a week there, we drove to the next camp 5 hours away called the Baker Lodge.\u00a0 This was on Lago General.\u00a0 This was a lake that was some 135 miles long. The same deal here\u2026fishing from the boat with small flies on top.<\/p>\n We had the opportunity to fly to the next camp, which was only 45 minutes by air on a helicopter.\u00a0 We landed on a glacier and were able to take pictures.\u00a0 What a view!\u00a0 After fishing Baker Lodge for a week, we headed back to the U.S.\u00a0 We\u2019ve got to make a book of Chile\u2026we have tons of pictures.\u00a0 It\u2019s a unique adventure.\u00a0 Try it!<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" By Thomas R.
